According to the trade experts, the success of the film must be ascribed to Katrina Kaif, who carries the film almost on her lone shoulders.
The release of Salman Khan’s “Bodyguard” made the tills overflow at the theatres on the very first day of its showing. By the end of the weekend, it had reached the 100 crore mark and was heading towards becoming the topmost grossing film by beating Dabangg to its number one position.
Following its success came Yash Raj Films “Mere Brother Ki Dulhan”, which grossed 27 crores in its first weekend. Trade analysts are of the notion that the credit for MBKD’s success should go to Katrina Kaif.
Says renowned trade expert Amod Mehra, “Katrina is the life and soul of the film.” Manod Desai of Maratha Mandir agrees with Mehra.
Except for “Tees Maar Khan” which bombed badly at the box office last Christmas, Katrina has had a string of hits the whole of last year and until her latest “Mere Brother Ki Dulhan.”
Although the film did not take off very well in the beginning, it began to generate better results towards the weekend. Even occupancy during the weekdays was pretty decent.
It seems both Salman and Katrina have had a spate of good luck shining on them. Probably his latest highest grossing venture has rubbed off on his ex-girl as well! Whatever be the reason, the two are basking in their success for the present.
