Of late Bollywood is known for making fabulous films based on theme of friendship. This Friday’s release is one typical to that genre but with a difference. With lead actors Sushant Singh Rajput, Rajkumar Yadav and Amit Sadh in the film, it seems a fresh encapsulation of Chetan Bhagat’s bestseller novel ‘3 Mistakes of My Life’.
Sushant Singh Rajput who debuts in Bollywood b y ‘Kai Po Che’ plays Ishaan Bhatt. He is the best friend of Omkar Shastri (Amit Sadh) and Govind Patel (Rajkumar Yadav). This is for the first time Sushant would be doing a Bollywood film after his stint on television. Amit and Rajkumar have proved their mettle as actors before also. All the characters of the movie have been picked very carefully thus they do their bit excellently.
‘Kai Po Che’ is story of three best friends who strive in this nasty world to pursue their dreams. 10 years back when Gujarat riots happened, makes the backdrop of the movie. These three friends are stepping in new millennium with their set of dreams. At that time nuclear power was also in its boom. So these guys start their business in Ahmadabad. In India where cricket is nothing next to films these boys plan to start a cricket academy. But destiny places them in a cruel situation where they become a victim of Godhra riots. Ishaan, Omi and Govind try hard to save their friendship on one hand while on the other their dreams are shattered.
All the characters of the movie have done exceptionally good job. There couldn’t be any qualms about lack of any superstar in the film. Rather it is good that we get to see good performances by all the actors and avoiding mere presence of any megastar. Though Amit Sadh’s ‘Maximum’ has done not good at box office earlier but he has proved his acting once again in ‘Kai Po Che’. Rajkumar Yadav is a superb actor who has kept you entertained through his performance in ‘Love Sex Aur Dhokha’ ‘Ragini MMS’ Gangs of Wasseypur 2’ and most recently ‘Talaash’. The scenes of Amrita Puri are also good she has justified her role. She plays Vidya, Ishaan’s sister and Govind’s love.
Amit Trivedi has imbibed the culture of Gujarat to produce the wonderful songs of ‘Kai Po Che’. He has composed songs very tastefully. The tracks are well placed and in lines with the theme of movie. The songs of the movie do not hamper the pace of movie.
Kai Po Che is a brilliant story of friendship, passion and dreams set against the harsh realities of life. The movie deals quite well with frenzy over cricket, movies and politics in India. The plus of the movie are many from its music, to its plot, dialogues and cinematography.
We don’t see any valid reason to avoid this movie.
