As Vishal is known for his very hatke style of giving titles to his films, this one is no exception to the fact. At first glance you need to understand twice what the title suggests. Matru is a man (Imran Khan) who loves Bijlee (Anushka Sharma) and they are based in a village. And if you are wondering about Mandola, it is name of the character played by Pankaj Kapoor. (Oh Gosh!) Now when you have an understanding of the title we can have a deeper insight into what Vishal is trying to portray through a film set in rural part of Haryana.
As said, the story of the comedy drama MKBKM is set against the backdrop of Haryana. The three characters involved are lively and reflect rural Indian tradition. Though the story revolves round the serious issue of land scam yet Vishal has added a fun element to entertain the audience. The rich industrialist of village Harry Mandola (Pankaj Kapoor) shares a unique bond his daughter Bijlee (Anushka Sharma). The movie shows the love between not only Bijlee and Matru but also Matru and Harry, an unusual love though!
If you are going for the movie be prepared for the shocking but impressive performances by the characters of MKBKM. Be it Imran Kahn who delivers his best Haryanvi accent ripping off his chocolaty boy image or be it Anushka who though portrays a village girl but has no inhibitions as such in mouthing those titillating dialogues. She is chick, she is sexy, she is bold but she is beautiful as well.
Coming to the much seasoned actor Pankaj Kapoor, even he is a surprise factor of the movie as he plays the ‘tharkee buddha’ in the movie in a different shade. Vishal has chosen all his characters very intelligently who have done full justice to their roles.
The music of Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola is quite hatke. The title track has made waves all around. Other songs like ‘O Boy Charlie’, ‘Lootnewale’ are all good. People are liking the sings and this could be plus point for the movie.
It would be too early to predict any substantial figure for the box office, but one thing is for sure that Vishal has managed to entertain his class audience with the movie.
Vishal’s name is enough to categorize his movies and why you should be going to watch it.
If you are not ready to accept the image change of Imran Khan and Anushka Sharma from a chocolaty boy to a typical ‘dehati’ guy and girl next door to a sexy siren.
