Ram Gopal Verma has returned to his forte of movie making. And thankfully it is not a horror film from the Ram Gopal camp. He would be excelling once more in the action drama genre in Rakt Charitra which is slated to be released in October. It is a biographical film and the story of politician Paritala Ravindra, a communist who was murdered in January 2005 in broad daylight which led to a chaotic period in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
As Ramu has an expertise in the movie genres like politics, action, crimes, power play, ‘Rakt Chatri’ too will have that Midas touch of Ramu where he has casted Vivek Oberai and Shatrughan Sinha (sans his mustaches). The movie is to be released multilingually – Hindi, Tamil and Telgu. Vivek is playing Paritala Ravi, Shatrughan Sinha and Mohan Babu playing N. T. Rama Rao in Hindi and Telugu versions respectively.
Other artist like Surya Sivakumar is playing Maddalcheruvu Suri and Radhika Apte is playing Paritala Sunita in the movie. One more world acclaimed actor Subrat Dutta, who got Best Actor Award in the 2009 Cairo International Film Festival, is playing an important role in the film.
‘Rakt Charitra’ is the story of a man’s exceptional rise from a common man to a powerful politician, a story of blood and gore that have ever been heard or seen. However, the movie could also be termed as a mirror to some of the extremely sensitive issues as crime, caste, politics, family differences and country.
Hope that Ramu will be successful once again to showcase and bring into light the dirty, violent and power politics of India as he managed to do in his debut movie ‘Shiva’, followed by ‘Satya’, ‘Company’, ‘D’, and ‘Sarkar’.
