Post debuting his career in direction with a controversial film ‘Paanch’ , Anurag Kashyap has given many successful Bollywood movie including Dev D, Black Friday, Gulaal, and No Smoking.
Now the ace director is ready to showcase his directorial excellence through ‘That Girl in Yellow Boots’. The film’s recognition can be made out from the fact that it has drawn rant reviews post its introduction at the Venice Film Festival last September. In addition to it, the film has also been screened at Toronto International Film Festival, Los Angeles premiere and will screen at the Arclight Cinemas in Hollywood as part of the Ninth Annual Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles.
The film is reportedly co- written by his girlfriend and now wife Kalki Koechlin. The duo bring forward a terrific story of a British girl who meanders across India to search out her father who is an Indian and had left the family way back.
This movie that also stars Naseerudin Shah is not that stereotype Bollywood film. As a mainstream audience you guys might have to fiddle through your brains and scratch your head to get the hold of it.
This thriller flick characterizes Kalki as Ruth who out of desperation is driven her work without a permit, at a massage parlor. Torn between several schisms, Mumbai becomes the alien but yet strangely familiar backdrop for Ruth’s quest. She struggles to find her independence and space even as she is sucked deeper into the labyrinthine politics of the city’s underbelly. A city that feeds on her misery, a love that eludes her and above all, a devastating truth that she must encounter. And everyone wants a piece of her.
