‘Apne’, starring our very own Punjabi munde Dharmendra and family, hit the theaters in 2007 that brought immense success at box office. January 2011 will also bring the Deol family together on the silver screen to create magic and cast a spell on the audience.
The Punjabi puttars are back again to entertain with the power packed performances in their next Bollywood venture ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana’. The movie brings together the Papa Dharmendra and his beloved sons hunk Sunny and lovable Bobby. Directed by the ace director Samir Karnik of ‘Hero’ fame, the film appears to be a real family entertainer and a complete ‘paisa wasool’.
The story of the film is simple yet interesting. Sunny plays Paramveer Singh Dhillon who is a truthful and candid NRI who works as a bank loan recovery agent in Vancouver, Canada, and lives with his mother played by Nafisa Ali, wife Mary played by Emma Brown and two sons. Nafisa Ali essays a typical Punjabi housewife who has left her husband Dharmendra because of his deceptive ways but takes her elder son along with her. She opens this secret on Paramveer that he has a father and a younger brother. With this starts Paramveer’s journey where he comes to India and searches for his father and brother to re-unite the estranged family.
On the other hand Papa Deol Dharam Singh and Gajodhar Singh aka Bobby Deol live in Varanasi and are the conmen as well as famous as a crooked father-son jodi. Fortunately or unfortunately Paramveer finds his lost family but only unaware of him soon-to becoming a pawn of crooked father – son con games. Hereby begins a hilarious and perplexing voyage of love, romance, laughter, emotions, actions and errors.
The theatrical responses are already amusing and positive, thus it can be considered that the film will be a real super-duper hit. The audience will have to wait for a couple of weeks to see Dharam Paajee in action and relive the ecstasy of dialogues from ‘Sholay’. Just wait till 14th January and check out if the Deol family turns out to be real ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana’ or not.
