While some fans were soaring high after seeing movie the others were seen crooning to grab the ticket.

Long queues, jovial faces, compliments for the performances – this is all what could be seen yesterday after Salman starrer Bodyguard released and the first show got over. Those who watched the film were extremely delighted to see their ‘Wanted’ ‘Dabangg’ Khan is another action packed role ‘Ready’ to woo the fans.

Surprisingly Bodyguard box office collection reached Rs. 20 crore on the opening day thereby setting a new box office record for the highest box office collection for any Bollywood film on the opening day. The film was released at 2,800 screens acrossIndia. The theatre occupancy of the film reached form 85% to 100% at many places inIndia.

Getting a mixed response from the film analysts, the fans loved and adored the film. At least the first day collection of Bodyguard reveals it. The film has that oomph factor and masala that Salman’s films are loved for. Today, i.e. Thursday is also a holiday in some parts ofIndiain lieu of Ganesh Chaturthi which has further accentuated the happiness of distributors of the films. Following Thursday is the weekend that will surely draw masses to the theaters. It is anticipated that Bodyguard may also set the record for the highest grossing weekend and highest five-day collections.

Manoj Desai of G7 multiplex in Bandra says that all shows of the film are booked right till Monday, which is unprecedented. “The film has obviously benefited from the long weekend, with Eid on Wednesday and Ganesh Chaturti on Thursday, but even then it’s quite a feat. Sadly, reactions have been mixed. So, it remains to be seen if the collections hold up after Monday,” says Desai.

What better gift Salman might have asked for on Eid that his film became a super-duper hit at the box office. Till date Dabangg and Wanted boasted of brewing best opening day collection with the former getting a whopping Rs. 18 crore opening on the first day.

Prakhar Joshi, head of programming at PVR Cinemas, says the film opened well in all of the multiplex chain’s 35 properties. “Dabangg had grossed Rs1.42 crore on a single day from all our properties, the highest ever. We expect Bodyguard to have easily grossed over Rs 2 crore,” says Joshi, adding that the film might perform even better over the weekend.
