New Promotional Strategy for Ra.One

Every big budget film of Bollywood that has been released post 2010 has witnesses a mobile or an internet game accompanying it. Keeping updated with these trends, the actor-producer of Ra. One, Shah Rukh Khan has launched a social game that would be available for the gamers across five platforms including social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter, Android, Nokia Ovi store, ipads, iphones and DTH.



Confirming the news Vishal Gondal, CEO, UTV Indiagames says, “We are trying to target the masses with brand Shahrukh Khan. The game revolves around G.One (the superhero character played by Khan in the film) and his adventures. The game will be available for free download by the end of September or early October. However, any further micro-transactions (buying extra ammunition, powers) will cost the gamer anything from Rs. 5 to Rs. 100.”

Vishal reveals that the storyline of the game is neither borrowed nor similar to theme of the movie. He says, “That’s the differentiator. The game is not an extension of the film. The characters or dragons that G.One will be fighting will be different. It is a high-end gaming experience globally even for those who do not know Shah Rukh Khan. For those who do, it’s a bonus.”

Ra.One is one of its kind and different from other superhero franchises that are a fascination because of comic books or graphic novels. The film takes the opposite route. It is reported that UTV India Games will launch a digital comic book for the superhero. Shailja Gupta, digital and new media head, Red Chillies Entertainment, says, “We’re looking to launch a mobile application for a digital comic book that UTV Indiagames is currently working on.”

Ra.One stars Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal along with Shahrukh Khan. It is expected to be released on Diwali.
