For a long time Raveena hasn’t been in news. She has quitted films after her marriage. We saw her latest in a reality show as a judge. She has long back hung her acting shoes, but now she has now adopted a new role. Before you jump on any conclusion let us tell you that the new role we would be seeing Raveena in is not of a mother or a reality show’s judge but that of an animal right campaigner. This Bollywood diva has become the latest to pose for PETA with a bleeding snake poster.
When contacted her, she confirmed the news that she is trying to create awareness for the suffering of snakes and other animals whose skins are used to make accessories. And for the same reason she has posed for an advertisement for People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).
The 35 year old actress is wearing a slithery outfit that has resemblance to snake’s skin. She is lying on a pool of blood apparently even bleeding from mouth with the words of course. Her costume is inscribed with a slogan that reads, “Wearing exotic skins kills. Leave wildlife out of your wardrobe.”
Commenting on the whole issue Raveena said, “Wearing shoes, clothes and other accessories made out of exotic skin is about as cold blooded as it goes.” Further she stated, “These days, there is wide kingdom of snake, mock crocodile and python leather that pays tribute to the beauty of these animals without making them fashion victims.”
The National Award winning actress desires that consumers should know about the sufferings that snakes, alligators and other animals have to bear before their skins are transformed in chic shoes, bags and other accessories.
“Snakes are commonly nailed to trees or posts and skinned alive. After the animals’ mutilated bodies are discarded, it can take hours for them to die. Alligators in factory are crammed into small spaces and then beaten death by hammers and axes,” said Raveena.
With Raveena’s joining hands with PETA she has entered the comrade of many other Bollywood personalities who have earlier spoken for animal rights. These personalities have raised their voices for animal rights by actively participating in mind blowing photoshoots. The famous Bollywood icons that have been associated with PETA and animal rights include Jiah Khan, Celina Jaitly, Sherlyn chopra, Lara Dutta, John Abraham and Malaika Arora Khan.
Raveena we are sure by your advocacy there might be some awareness spread among your fans.
